Child Identification Project

The Facts

According to the FBI and The US Dept. of Justice:

  • A child goes missing in the United States every 40 seconds.
  • The first 3 hours are the most crucial for the safe return of a child.
  • It can take more than 2 hours to gather information from a panicked parent.
  • 800,000 juveniles (under 18) are reported missing each year, but this includes runaways.
  • "Family kidnapping" accounts for nearly 50% of all child kidnappings.
  • Approximately 80% of acquaintance and stranger kidnappings are sexually motivated.
  • For every 10,000 missing child reports (including runaways) around one child was killed, according to the U.S. Justice Department in 1990.

We can't change much of you read above, but we can help reduce that 2 hours of information gathering!
